Olof Mellberg has urged Aston Villa teammates not to be unsettled by the constant transfer speculation at Villa Park.

The Swede told Villa's website: "There has been a lot of talk about players coming in, in all positions so I try not to think too much about that.

"And because we've just started the season it's a case of being on top form as individuals and as a team.

"That's the only focus and I try not to get too involved with all the rumours. It doesn't bother me but the signings the club makes affects us, so you follow it but you try not to get too bogged down by it because it's not up to us.

"All we can do is focus on our own game and try to do that as well as possible."
