Mellberg slaughters current Arsenal team: Shaky, nervous

Olympiakos defender Olof Mellberg has slammed the quality of the current Arsenal team. The former Aston Villa centre-half was unimpressed by Gunners' young players in his team's Champions League defeat last week.

Mellberg, 34, said: "Overall, Arsenal were not as good as when I last played against them. Back then they were unplayable. They were the Barcelona of England. You just never had the ball.

"Now, though, they don't threaten as much as they used to. They look shaky and seem nervous. Conceding so many goals early in the season has obviously affected them."

Mellberg added: "At the moment they are not on top of their game. We expected a much tougher evening and for Arsenal to play a lot better.

"We were a bit surprised that we had so much possession and were able to dominate the game for long spells. After our bad start, we controlled the game.

"It was a great opportunity for us to beat them. Unfortunately, we didn't take it."
