Aston Villa defender Olof Mellberg expects more signings to be soon on their way to Villa Park.

Villa have so far added two players to the squad - Nigel Reo-Coker and Nigel Harewood - while several players have moved elsewhere.

But Mellberg expects movement in the transfer market and told the club's website: "I think there will be more movement in the transfer market. The manager has said so and if you look at our squad then we obviously need to strengthen from last season. Quite a few players have left, so the players expect more signings.

"There hasn't been that many changes in terms of players coming in, it has been more players leaving. We will just have to see in a few weeks when we are really ready to get going and see what the squad looks like then.

"I think there is a real sense of expectation at the club this year, and let's hope so. Quite a few clubs will feel the same- the clubs behind the top three."
