Wigan Athletic skipper Mario Melchiot faces taking a pay-cut to remain at the DW.
The News of the World says Melchiot could be forced to take a cut on his £20,000-a-week wages if he wants to prolong his Wigan career. And Martinez is sure the Dutchman is capable of keeping up with the pace of the Premier League despite passing his 33rd birthday.
Latics boss Roberto Martinez said: "Mario's a fit man. The Premier League is a demanding league and you don't want to predict anything but Mario has been really fit all season.
"He's a true professional and he looks after his body and trains with real intensity."
