Melbourne will not go into Grand Final with complacent attitude

Melbourne Victory will no enter Saturday night's Grand Final with complacency in their mindset. They are the thoughts of defender Rodrigo Vargas ahead of this weekend's decider for the 2008/09 A-League season.

The Victory have won five of six clashes with the Reds this season but Vargas says that means nothing when it comes to finals, especially Grand Finals.

"We spoke about it this morning, Ernie addressed it, complacency is the only thing that can really have a negative effect on us," Vargas said yesterday.

"In reality it's just another game, it's 90 minutes, 11 against 11, so we'll be doing the same thing we've done all year round.

"Hopefully if we play to our best it should be enough to get a win."

Vargas said he also didn't mind that all the pressure was on the Victory after leading league for much of the season and dominating Adelaide in the semi-final legs.

"Everyone's been talking about Melbourne this, Melbourne that, but I think we kind of enjoy the pressure at our club, we thrive under it," Vargas added.

"The boys love to play under pressure, the big games are what you want to play in.

"You'd rather be playing in packed stadiums under pressure than no pressure games."
