Melbourne Victory's Brebner on way back

This week's A-League clash against Wellington Phoenix at Westpac Stadium could see Brebner make an appearance but the Victory aren't 100% sure if he will make it into the squad for this particular game.

Victory's football operations manager Gary Cole told the Herald Sun, "I think Brebner's got a real good chance of being involved this week.

"It's probably unlikely he'll start, but I think there's a good chance Brebner will get on the pitch at some stage."

Along with Brebner, striker Archie Thompson is also battling fitness problems and looks likely to miss this week.

Thompson injured his ankle playing for the Olyroos at the Beijing Olympics and is hoping for a return in Round 3 against Newcastle Jets at the Telstra Dome whilst midfielder Nick Ward will also miss this week and return with Thompson.
