Melbourne Victory overcame a determined combined Victorian Premier League team in a Bushfire Appeal charity match last night.

Played at Olympic Park to raise funds for the victims of the Victorian bushfires earlier this year, the victory netted twice in the second half to open their pre-season account in a positive fashion.

Ney Fabiano and Nathan Elasi provided the goals for the reigning champions whilst promoted youth team captain Mathew Theodore was impressive.
