Melbourne Victory sponsor has ties with Melbourne Heart

Melbourne Victory’s major sponsor, gambling giant Intralot, has caused concerns regarding the A-League’s incoming club, Melbourne Heart.

A feud has broken out due to the fact that the Heart’s chairman and part-owner Peter Sidwell is also chairman of Intralot, who sponsor the Victory for $1million per year.

It seems as though the Victory’s deal will be cut short at the end of the season, ending the partnership 12 months early but the club’s chairman Geoff Lord said he expected Intralot to honour the deal.

“We have a contract which is binding," Lord said yesterday.

Intralot and the Victory agreed a two-year deal in May last year which has an option for a third year.
