Melbourne Victory secure goalkeeper Petkovic from Sivasspor

Melbourne Victory today unveiled goalkeeper Michael Petkovic as their newest signing.

The 33-year old has joined the Victory on a one-year deal from Turkish club Sivasspor where he has spent the past five years.

Petkovic kicked off his professional career in 1994 with Perth Kangaroos in Singapore before returning to his native Western Australia to play with Spearwood Dalmatanic.

In 1995, the shot-stopper then found himself in the old National Soccer League with South Melbourne Hellas before trying his luck in Europe with France's Strasbourg in 1999. He then returned for another stint at South Melbourne before embarking on another Euro trip where he played with Lillestrom of Norway in 2001 before spending three years with Turkish outfit Trabzonspor and then onto Sivasspor in 2005.

Petkovic was named in the South Melbourne Hellas 'Team of the Century' and has also represented the Australian national team on six occasions - the most recent being in 2008 against China in Sydney.

Michael becomes the second Petkovic to play in the A-League, following brother Jason who played with the Perth Glory in between 2005 and 2009.
