Melbourne Victory say goodbye to Petkovic, Angulo and Pilkington

Melbourne Victory wishes to announce that goalkeeper, Michael Petkovic, has advised the club of his retirement from professional football, while midfielders, Marvin Angulo and Luke Pilkington, have concluded their contracts and will not return to the club when pre-season training begins on July 4.

Petkovic, made 33 appearances for Melbourne Victory during the 2010/11 Hyundai A-League and 2011 AFC Champions League campaigns, keeping 10 clean sheets along the way.

The 34 year-old has decided to hang-up the gloves after a professional career spanning 16 years, consisting of over 400 games and 6 Socceroos caps.

Angulo, meanwhile, has returned to Costa Rica after his loan deal from CS Herediano expired.

Arriving at the club during the 2009/10 Hyundai A-League season, the 24 year-old made 44 appearances in the navy blue, teaming-up with compatriot, Carlos Hernandez and quickly becoming a fan favourite.

The youngest of the three, Pilkington, 20, rose to prominence after winning the Foxtel reality show 'Football Superstar' and enjoyed two seasons at Melbourne Victory, mostly in the National Youth League, but secured 3 senior appearances alongside the likes of Kevin Muscat and Archie Thompson.

The club thanks Michael, Marvin and Luke for their contribution and wishes them every success in the future.
