Melbourne Victory's Muscat set to miss two

Melbourne Victory captain Kevin Muscat is expected to miss two weeks with a foot injury. The key defender was injured in Sunday's 3-0 win over Brisbane Roar at AAMI Park and initially was supposed to be out for up to a month.

But scans yesterday revealed that Muscat has a minor tear in his foot and should only be out for a fortnight with the likelihood of him missing more weeks dependant on how he recovers.

Muscat will definitely miss the Victory's first midweek clash which is against the Wellington Phoenix at AAMI Park tomorrow night.

Victory coach Ernie Merrick said the club would get striker Robbie Kruse back for the clash but would definitely feel the absence of Muscat.

"I don't think we'll have Robbie Wednesday night and he should only be a week, but more concerning is our captain," Merrick said.

"I think we've got the position quite well covered. However, he's always a big miss because of his presence on the field."
