Melbourne Victory's Moss happy to be involved with NZ squad

Melbourne Victory goalkeeper Glen Moss knows he will not play much of a part at the World Cup but says is just happy to be a part of it all.

The 27-year old is still serving a FIFA ban handed to him 17 months ago and is required to sit out the first two World Cup group stage matches but he says that not playing is not the end of the world as he will still be in South Africa helping his New Zealand teammates prepare.

"Not everyone is going to be able to play, but it's all about being part of the squad, and Ricki (Herbert) wants team players and everyone on the same page," Moss said.

"It will be an amazing experience just to be part of the World Cup and everyone will come away with something special. Hopefully we can pass that on to footballers coming through the ranks, and hopefully it won't be the last World Cup New Zealand play in for a while."

Moss admits it has been tough getting over the fact he would not be able to play because he swore at a referee in an Oceania qualifying clash with Fiji in November 2008 but said he had put it behind him and was looking forward.

"I've kind of moved on from that," he added.

"It was pretty hard the way everything happened. But as I said, it's bigger than one person and I'm just going in like everyone else. I love being part of it."
