Melbourne Victory's Hernandez scores for Costa Rica against France

Melbourne Victory midfielder Carlos Hernandez scored a superb goal in Costa Rica's 2-1 friendly loss to France overnight.

The reigning A-League Player of the Year netted in the 11th minute of the match in front of 40,000 people at the Stade Felix-Bollaert in Lens with a low 25-yard strike that deceived France goalkeeper Steve Mandanda and nestled in the bottom corner.

Les Bleus managed to get on level terms just over ten minutes later when Costa Rican defender Douglas Sequeira turned in a low Franck Ribery cross before France debutant Mathieu Valbuena grabbed the winner in the 83rd minute with a well-struck shot from outside the area.
