Melbourne Victory midfielder Carlos Hernandez has again been called up by Costa Rica.

The match-winning Hernandez has been included in the Costa Rica squad for important World Cup qualifiers against Trinidad & Tobago and the USA on October 10 and14.

The call-up means Hernandez is likely to miss Victory's clash with Sydney FC next weekend.

"We haven't had official notification yet but it looks like we'll lose him for the Sydney game," Victory coach Ernie Merrick said.

"He did an interview the other day back to Costa Rica and he said how much he was enjoying his football and that he'd never played better. It's been a fantastic year for him."
