Danny Allsopp has announced his retirement from football effective immediately.
The Melbourne Victory have confirmed that the 34-year old has decided to call it a day on a career that has spanned 17 years and spurned more than 400 professional games.
Allsopp, who also played for such clubs as Manchester City, Notts County, Hull City and DC United, was full of gratitude for those people who had helped him throughout his career.
"I've received amazing support over the years and there are so many people who have contributed to my career and I'd like to thank each and every one of them," Allsopp said.
"I'm extremely proud of what I have achieved throughout my career and football has allowed me to play in leagues across four different continents, including the English Premier League, and those experiences will stay with me forever.
"There have been many highlights along the way, and obviously the great success we enjoyed will always stay with me, but I feel very proud to have been a part of such an exciting period for not only this club, but the A-League and our sport in Australia."
