Steven Gerrard will not be joining A-League club Melbourne Victory anytime soon.

The Liverpool great has been linked with a possible shift to Australia after recently announcing his exit from MLS club LA Galaxy.

However, now is not the time for the Victory to consider a player such as Gerrard according to former Crystal Palace, Wolves and Millwall defender Kevin Muscat, who coaches the three-time A-League champions.

"At this stage, no," he told Melbourne radio station SEN1116.

"We've been contacted in relation to a few players, but any discussions with those players will remain confidential obviously.

"But at this stage there's no chance, no."
