Melbourne Victory looking to back up last ACL win

Melbourne Victory are hoping they can back up their last start Asian Champions League win when they defeated Kawasaki Frontale 1-0 at home. It was the Victory's first points from four group stage matches and came at a time when they needed it most as anything other than a win would have meant a premature exit from the competition.

But ahead of Wednesday night's home clash against reigning Chinese champions Beijing Guoan, midfielder Leigh Broxham is of firm belief that after a heavy schedule, the team is at its best to record another three points.

"The first three games we've always come off the back of something … it's a bit of an excuse but that's the just the facts really," he told Sportal.

"We got a win last week and we had a good buildup and I think we've had another good build up again so we've got no excuses this time, we're at home and I think if we get a bit of a crowd behind us I think we can do a lot better than we did last time when we were in Beijing.

"We don't really change too much of what we've been doing because it's worked for us in the past. We've been a bit unlucky, we've only scored one goal but I think the goals are due to come.

"We're missing a couple (of players) but everyone else who is available can score goals so I think there is no more excuses … we're thinking of trying to get a few seeing as we are at home as well."
