Melbourne Victory goalkeeper Mike Petkovic is considering his future in the game.

The Herald-Sun says he is believed to be considering retirement.

But Victory has signed a ready replacement in Tando Velaphi, who played to mixed reviews with Perth Glory.

"I'm going to have to work for my spot, whether it be as a squad player or on the bench," Velaphi said.

"Everybody is going to make mistakes and I've made my share. But I've progressed and I've come to a club where I can become a better player."
