Keenan joined the A-League giants last year after a two-year stint with Dutch strugglers Willem II but failed down a spot in Ernie Merrick's starting XI.

The former Chelsea wing-back is currently in Edinburgh undergoing trials with Hibernian, and his departure would free up a place for another foreign player in Melbourne's squad.

"Joe Keenan is trialling with Hibs in Scotland and apparently training quite well," Cole said.

"He's got a year to run on his contract here. But if things work out well in Scotland, we wouldn't stand in the way."
