Melbourne Victory defender Michael Thwaite has agreed a move to Gold Coast United. The 25-year-old defender will return to Queensland after spending this season on loan at Melbourne Victory from his Norwegian club SK Brann. United were able to negotiate Thwaite's transfer from Brann.

United assistant coach Paul Okon said: "Michael's a good player who should be further forward in his career than he is.

"He's played for Australia and hopefully by coming here we'll be able to lift him up a level and help him get back in the national team."
