Melbourne Victory confirm Solorzano signing

Melbourne Victory has secured the services of highly regarded former Brisbane Roar striker Jean Carlos Solorzano on a 1-year loan deal from LD Alajuelense. The Costa Rican joins compatriots Carlos Hernandez and Marvin Angulo at AAMI Park and after his first season in the Hyundai A-League, appears well placed to become an instant hit with the Melbourne Victory faithful.

Having helped Brisbane Roar to the Premiership/Championship double, the 23 year-old was lured south with an imposing record of 11 goals from 24 matches to his name.

Melbourne Victory Football Operations Manager, Gary Cole said, "Jean Carlos possesses all the qualities we like in a player. Not only is he a goal-scorer, but he's a creator too and guys like him are hard to find.

"He had a fantastic season in a team that broke all sort of records on the way to the double, so for him to want to come and join our club is a great endorsement for Melbourne Victory" Cole added.

Solorzano joins fellow new boys Marco Rojas, Tando Velaphi and Isaka Cernak as exciting off-season signings.

The prospect of teaming-up with his former teammate in Hernandez certainly appealed to the man they call 'Niko'. "Carlos is a good friend of mine and it will be nice to play alongside him once again.

"Everyone knows that Costa Rica produces very skilful players and hopefully myself, Carlos and Marvin Angulo can play some good football and excite the fans of Melbourne Victory."

Solorzano will join his new teammates on Thursday.
