Melbourne Victory coach Postecoglou: Doing Man Utd/Liverpool double would be a dream!

Melbourne Victory head coach Ange Postecoglou admits it will be a dream to coach against Manchester United and Liverpool.

The former South Melbourne and Socceroos defender will take charge of the very first A-League All-Stars side to play Premier League champions United in Sydney on July 20 before leading his club, Melbourne Victory, into battle against Liverpool four days later.

Postecoglou admits it will be a thrill to manage against the two great club, particularly the Reds who he grew up supporting, and suggests it would be even nicer to produce two victories if possible.

"I grew up supporting Liverpool. Part of the reason I'm a manager today is because of the Liverpool Football Club," he said.

"I grew up with the stories of Bill Shankly and Bob Paisley in the boot room. Of Ronnie Moran, Joe Fagan, Roy Evans, all those guys, and that type of philosophy has stayed with me.

"They were playing possession football before it was trendy so from my perspective the whole experience will be a thrill backing up from hopefully knocking off Man U a few days earlier. That would be a dream week for me."

Postecoglou also said he would love to pick the brain of Reds boss Brendan Rodgers if he got the chance to sit down and have a chat.

"If I can get a glass of wine with him after the game that would be great. I'd love to have a chat to him," he added.

"It's his first year at Liverpool and mine at the Victory and he's changed the way they play their football, I've done the same, so it would be lovely to have a chat and see how he's gone about it."
