Melbourne Victory coach Ernie Merrick has promised an attacking display against the Newcastle Jets at EnergyAustralia stadium tonight. Second-placed Victory will be out to retain their spot on top of the table where they have spent so much time this season against Newcastle who have fallen from the lofty heights of premiers last season to bottom place.
Merrick is hoping he has a full attacking strike force to deploy with the possible inclusion of Archie Thompson and attacking midfielder Evan Berger back in the mix.
"We will go in with a very attacking line-up," Merrick said.
"We have added Evan to the squad and we are not sure who will drop out but I can assure you there will be no defenders on the bench.
"We want all three points and we will have midfielders and strikers only on the bench.
"We are in good shape, we have got no injuries so we are going in with a positive attitude," he said.
In the Jets camp, former Victory midfielder Kaz Patafta has been included in the squad along with Jin-Hyung Song who is back from injury but will be without the suspended Jobe Wheelhouse.
