Melbourne's Thompson thrives knowing Adelaide fear them

Melbourne Victory striker Archie Thompson says he loves it that Adelaide United fear them and believes his teammates will thrive on it. The all time A-League leading goalscorer, Thompson can't wait for this Saturday's grand final and says the team is going in with plenty of confidence.

"I'm just so excited and I've got that feeling like I had two years ago," Thompson said in regards to the 2007 final were Melbourne defeated Adelaide 6-0.

We love this stuff and we want to go into a grand final knowing they're going to fear us," he added.

"We've got the confidence, we've prepared all this week, we've had good results over them and I'm like 'just bring it on'.

"We're not going to change our game plan, we're going to play our attacking football, try to get (Costa Rican international Carlos) Hernandez on the ball as much as we can and watch out Adelaide.

"I don't think any team in the league can compete with us when we're playing on-song.

"It's not arrogance, it's confidence and that's a big difference.

"We're very confident."
