Melbourne Victory goalkeeper Glen Moss is in enormous danger of missing New Zealand's World Cup campaign if they happen to qualify.
The All Whites face Bahrain in the second leg of their final qualifier in Wellington on Saturday week, but will be without Moss as he continues to sit out a four-match ban for abusing an official during the Oceania qualifying phase.
If New Zealand get through to the finals in South Africa, Moss will also be forced to miss the first two group matches which indicates he may not even get on the plane in the first place which he admits is hard to take.
"It is hard because you know you should be there," Moss said.
"These are the things you dream about as a kid. It's a tough way to go out."
Moss wanted to lodge an appeal with FIFA but after a mix up with NZ Football, it was rejected because an individual cannot send in an appeal by himself.
"The suspension was quite harsh, but NZ Football failed to appeal and it's something I've got to wear," added Moss.
"It's disappointing it wasn't handled in the right manner."
But Moss was remaining positive in regards to the overall picture.
"If New Zealand could get to a World Cup, the game, I'm sure, would just take off there and the money that would come in would help NZ Football run the show a little bit better," Moss said.
