Melbourne's Allsopp plays down importance of goal scoring title

Danny Allsopp knows that when the season hinges on the final game of the season, individual honours are thrown out the window.

The Melbourne Victory striker has just been selected to represent Australia in an upcoming Asian Cup qualifier but has a more important contest on his mind and is not thinking about overhauling A-League leading goal scorer Shane Smeltz.

Allsopp sits one goal behind his Wellington Phoenix opponent but is intent on getting three points for his team.

"I just want to win this game, we need the three points," Allsopp said.

"The only way I can approach the game is to concentrate on playing normally and hopefully I can get into the right spots.

"If I can score a goal or two that would be great, but personal things are down the list."
