Melbourne Heart skipper Colosimo happy with mix of youth and experience

Melbourne Heart captain Simon Colosimo says he is happy with the mix of youth and experience the new club has.

The age old adage that a good mix of the two usually bring success is being followed by the new A-League franchise and after last night's impressive performance against English Premier League club Everton, Colosimo said there were plenty of positive factors to come from the 2-0 loss.

"Obviously there wasn't points to play for but there was a lot to play for. We've finally got most of the squad together," he said. "There was a lot more tonight, thankfully, player wise to choose from and it's come down to pressure for positions now and I think it's great to have guys like Kamal (Ibrahim), Eli (Babalj), Brendan Hamill, Kliment (Taseski) when he came on.

"These guys have shown that they can come in and do a good job and they are going to put everyone under pressure and the coach has said that from day one, irrespective, will try and mix the young boys but as soon as you can show me you're the best then you're the best option so there's a lot of motivation for the younger boys to break in and we don't want to go splitting younger and older but there is a lot of motivation for the older boys to keep their spot."
