Melbourne Heart signs former Kaiserslautern, Coventry striker Mifsud

Melbourne Heart have announced the signing of Maltese striker Michael Mifsud.

The 32-year old has joined the A-League club on a one-year deal after dominating the Maltese Premier League in recent seasons with Valletta.

Heart head coach John Aloisi said: "Michael has scored goals at whatever level he has played at.

"He is an exciting footballer and will be a dynamic influence in our attack.

"As the captain of Malta, he has played against the very best teams in the world and held his own. It's not easy to lead the line against the likes of Italy and Croatia, and test those defences, something which he has done regularly."

Throughout his career, Mifsud has played in his homeland with Sliema Wanderers, in Germany with Kaiserslautern, with Lillestrom in Norway and in England with Coventry City and Barnsley. He has also scored 37 international goals in 99 appearances for Malta.
