Melbourne Heart set for A-League debut

New club Melbourne Heart are fully prepared for their A-League debut tomorrow night. The 11th franchise takes on the Central Coast Mariners in the 2010/11 season opener at AAMI Park and Heart captain Simon Colosimo is chomping at the bit for the action to start.

"Excitement," he said from AAMI Park today when asked what he was feeling.

"Everyone's been working hard to get to tomorrow. You see how beautiful the stadium is and what a great place it is to not only play football but to watch it. It's a great opportunity to do something great."

Asked if the playing group needed time to gel, Colosimo admitted it may take a little bit of time but was eyeing positive results from the word go.

"We are all professionals but there is going to be that bit of leeway of getting to know guys on the field but we're professionals and we want to be winning more than losing," he added.

"We will be out there to get as many good results as we can."

And as for winning the first competitive match in the history of a new club, Colosimo did not understate the importance of beginning well.

"I think it's important, it doesn't matter who you're playing for. It's important to get off to a good start," he added further.

"Especially us. We've got one home game then we are away twice so it's important to try and pick up three points tomorrow night and kick on for our road trips (against Newcastle Jets and Adelaide United.)"
