Melbourne Heart's Heffernan to join Perth Glory

Melbourne Heart defender Dean Heffernan is expected to soon sign with Perth Glory.

The 30-year old left-back has had limited game time with the Heart in their debut season, making just 13 appearances, and it is almost certain that he will move on at the completion of the current campaign.

The former Central Coast Mariners star was one of the premier players in the A-League when he was signed to the Heart but he was unable to transform that tag onto the pitch under John van 't Schip who has much preferred youngsters such as Aziz Behich in Heffernan's customary role.

In other Glory transfer news, reports suggest that Adelaide United captain Travis Dodd will sign a deal as soon as he passes a medical whilst Gold Coast United striker Shane Smeltz is also rumoured to be heading west.
