Melbourne Heart recruit Michael Beauchamp is tipped to replace Craig Moore in central defence for Australia's clash with Serbia on Wednesday night (Thursday morning AEST).
Veteran Moore will miss the match in Nelspruit due to suspension after picking up a second yellow card for the tournament in the 1-1 draw with Ghana on Saturday night and Beauchamp looks the obvious candidate to fill the vacancy.
Socceroos coach Pim Verbeek indicated that the former Aalborg and Al-Jazira centre-half would come in but stopped short of confirming his inclusion in the starting eleven.
"We have enough possibilities (to replace Moore). Michael Beauchamp can play in that position - I have Mark Milligan who can play in that position," Verbeek said.
"I have a few days to think about that. We will miss Craig but we have players who can do a job also."
Sources in South Africa said that Beauchamp will definitely play but until the line-up is confirmed, that is purely speculation.
