Melbourne Heart marquee Engelaar cut down by broken leg

Melbourne Heart have confirmed some bad news regarding their new marquee signing Orlando Engelaar.

The 33-year old Dutch midfielder, who signed with the Heart from PSV Eindhoven recently, sustained a fractured leg during Sunday's pre-season clash with Brisbane Roar in Lismore.

A Heart statement read: "Melbourne Heart FC confirms Orlando Engelaar sustained a fracture to his right leg during yesterday's pre-season match against Brisbane Roar.

"Engelaar has been given approval to fly back to Melbourne from Lismore this afternoon to undergo further medical assessment.

"Engelaar will meet with the Club's doctor and medical staff in Melbourne, who will determine the full extent of the injury.

"The Club will be making no further comment until a final diagnosis is completed."
