Melbourne Heart confirm Sarkies and Thompson signings

The Melbourne Heart Syndicate has confirmed the signings of Kristian Sarkies and Matt Thompson.

The incoming A-League franchise were this morning linked with the signings of the pair along with Sydney FC’s Simon Colosimo and Central Coast Mariners’ Dean Heffernan and the capture of Adelaide midfielder Sarkies and Newcastle Jets captain Thompson is now official.

Thompson (who completed negotiations yesterday) and Sarkies have signed multi-year deals to join the Hyundai A-League’s newest football club.

Head coach, John van’t Schip said, “I am excited that Kristian and Matt have joined me at the club. Both players are technically excellent, great professionals and moving toward the peak of their careers.

“We need players who are very comfortable on the ball but also players who are prepared to work hard in transition and when not in possession. I have watched both players closely and they have these qualities.”
