Melbourne Heart’s Bolton: We need to get back to basics

After just one point from their last seven matches, the season is beginning to get away from new A-League club Melbourne Heart.

The Heart have conceded 14 goals and scored just two in that winless run and things don’t look like they will get any easier with a clash against the in-form Adelaide United at their fortress, Hindmarsh Stadium.

Heart goalkeeper Clint Bolton believes things can turn around for the fledgling outfit but only if they can get back to basics and avoid letting in soft goals.

“It's back to basics, the old cliche," he said. "We've got to get down to the hard work and matching it with the opposition and hopefully not giving them easy goals. It deflates your team and gives them confidence.

"We started off (the season) pretty slow. We started off not a lot different to how we're going now, to be honest. But we can turn it around.

"We're running out of games and we're running out of time to turn it around, but there's no doubt we can."

Melbourne meet Adelaide at Hindmarsh this Friday night – kick-off is at 7:30pm local time (8:00pm AEDT).
