Melbourne Victory coach Ernie Merrick has taken a swipe at the surface of home ground Etihad Stadium.
Following another poor performance at home, a 1-1 draw with Wellington Phoenix, Merrick labelled the ground as a 'car park' and says his team needs to perform better on home soil.
''We should be winning games at home. There's no excuses for it, despite playing in a car park. It's a disgrace but that's not an excuse. I think we would be better playing in the car park actually," Merrick said.
''It's baked hard and it's bumpy as and it certainly doesn't suit our style of play. It's pretty bad for this season, and it's not getting watered.
''It's baked hard with the lights, so it's a pretty poor standard. That's not an excuse for our performance as both teams have to play on it, but it's a shame that it has to be like that. I think if they just watered it it would be fine, but I can't seem to get them to water it for some reason. We are happy to play here, we just need to get a better surface to play on to get a better standard of football.''
