Abdoulaye Meite has played his way to a new deal at West Bromwich Albion.
The Sunday Mirror says the centre-back fell out of favour under former boss Roberto Di Matteo and was told he could leave on a free transfer.
But the Ivorian has started the last three games under Roy Hodgson and has been an integral part of a side that is undefeated since the arrival of their new boss.
Meite has been told that if he continues to perform well then the club will be keen to open talks on a contract extension.
