Liverpool midfielder Raul Meireles has handed in a transfer request the club has confirmed.
The 28-year old Portugal international only arrived at Anfield last summer and has emerged as a key player for the Reds but he is keen to depart the club.
A statement on Liverpool's official website read: "Liverpool Football Club have tonight confirmed that Raul Meireles has submitted a written transfer request."
It is believed that Chelsea are showing interest but at time of writing there is only 20 minutes left in the transfer window.
