Bolton boss Gary Megson is intent on strengthening his squad in a bid to stay aloft in the Premier League.
Megson stressed he is more hopeful than anything of securing some quality players due to the nature of the transfer market.
"What tends to happen in January is that during the first couple of weeks it is a seller's market, then it turns into a buyer's market when clubs realise they are not going to get the price they are looking for,'' he said.
"Expect is not the right word, hope would be more accurate but I am trying to bring in a few players.
"We are quite strong at centre-half but the three lads we had in the middle were our only recognised midfield players,'' he added.
"We have not scored the amount of goals we would like either.
"We were doing fine until the last six games, since when it has slowed, so it is a situation we would like to address.''
