Former Bolton boss Gary Megson has been appointed manager of Sheffield Wednesday on a three-and-a-half year deal. Megson spent two separate spells with Wednesday as a player during the 1980s and is reunited with chairman Milan Mandaric, under whom he worked at Leicester City.
Interestingly, Megson left the Foxes after just 41 days but Mandaric seems to have forgotten the manner of the departure.
"I am delighted with this appointment because Gary Megson is a top-drawer manager," said the Wednesday chairman.
"He has tremendous experience in the Championship and the Premier League and that is where Sheffield Wednesday needs to be.
"He also has a huge affinity with the club as a former player. Gary is hungry for success; he is very ambitious and his ambitions match my own.
"My target when I bought this club was promotion this season then the Premier League and that remains."
