Gary Megson hopes Bolton Wanderers fans get behind his players after last night's superb 2-0 defeat of Manchester City.

"The fans react to what they see but they're not going to boo this," said Megson. "They've seen a team really having a go and to be fair, they see that all the time.

"As I've said before, if they're going to abuse anybody, it's better if I get it.

"They need to support the team and the support in the second half, when we really had that momentum, was as good as you're going to hear.

"One of the senior players said that we needed something to go in off somebody's backside - but you can't rely on that.

"Here we've not been lucky - we've played really well and we certainly deserved the win."
