Sheffield Wednesday boss Gary Megson saw his side drew a blank against Russian side FC Volga in the Austrian Alps on Tuesday and bemoaned his team's lack of a cutting edge. Neil Mellor top-scored for the Owls last season with 13 goals while on loan from Preston but has returned to Deepdale, while Megson's Megson said: "I thought it was a great work-out in terms of a training exercise.
"In terms of the fitness, a lot of the lads played 90 minutes after two weeks of pre-season and we finished stronger than they did.
"We kept a clean sheet which was good, but I can't remember us causing their goalkeeper too many problems and that shows where we need to improve."
