Bolton Wanderers have secured Gary Cahill to a new contract.

Gary Megson has persuaded Cahill to sign a new bumper deal at Bolton to finally scare off a string of Premier League admirers.

Defender Cahill, 23, will finalise a new, three-year contract today to head off interest from Arsenal, Everton and Tottenham.

Megson feared he would lose his prize asset to a bigger club with Cahill hoping to force his way into Fabio Capello's World Cup squad.

Megson said: "We're absolutely delighted to keep Gary because I've always said I want to build the team around him."
