Gary Megson is delighted with the way Bolton Wanderers fans are beginning to accept him.

"Someone stopped me in the car park the other day and said: 'You must be pleased with your first win'," he said. "But I told them it was more about being Bolton's second league win than my first.

"We all play our part, but the players are the most important people at this club.

"We try to get them out there in the best possible physical and mental condition.

"Players always have and always will dictate how well or badly your team does.

"Really, it's nothing to do with how I am perceived. It's the players on the pitch who dictate the fans' mood.

"There has been a lot of goodwill towards me from the supporters.

"They see I am giving it my very best, they see the players are giving it their very best and they are intelligent people."
