Manchester City are confident they fall within UEFA's financial fair play laws.
The Daily Star Sunday says with potential add-ons, new City boss Manuel Pellegrini already has up to £92m of new talent in his squad from this summer's transfer dealings after signing midfielder Fernandinho (£30m), winger Jesus Navas (£15.8m) plus strikers Alvaro Negredo (£20.6m) and Stevan Jovetic (£25.6m).
But to stay in line with UEFA's new Financial Fair Play rules, City have also slashed almost £40m from their annual wage bill with a number of high-profile departures.
They included the sales of strikers Mario Balotelli to AC Milan for £19m and Carlos Tevez to Juventus for £12m, while Kolo Toure, Roque Santa Cruz and Maicon left on free transfers.
