Gary McSheffrey has backed Birmingham City boss Steve Bruce's decision to pull out of a deal for Tottenham midfielder Hossam Ghaly last week.

McSheffrey told BBC Sport: "It's obvious the type of player our manager wants to bring in.

"It's the type of player we already have at the club and that is why we have a good camaraderie and team spirit around the place.

"The manager does not want to affect that in any way."
