Paul McShane admits he is disappointed by the manner of his exit from Hull City
McShane was one of the many first team players released by Hull immediately following their relegation to the Championship.
The release of Republic of Ireland international McShane surprised many and the defender has now gone on to state that he was left disappointed that he was made aware of his departure via a short phone call.
"I think there were a lot of people surprised by the news, but I could see it coming a little bit," said McShane.
"I do feel a bit let down, but that's the game, that's football, there's no romance in the game. I had to fly straight home to Cork for my coaching badges after the league ended, so it was a phone call and that was pretty much it after six-and-a-half years.
"I was the longest-serving player there. I spoke to Steve, who said the club had no money to offer me. But I don't know... that's what was said to me. I said, 'OK, thanks. I'll move on'. It could be more human, but that's how it is – there's no romance in football. People move on and I've got to move on."
