Stephen McPhail can understand if Everton and Fulham target Joe Ledley leaves Cardiff City.
Ledley looks set for the Premier League with his contract due to expire within weeks while Jay Bothroyd, Chris Burke and Peter Whittingham have all been the subject of transfer speculation.
But while McPhail hinted Ledley is ready to take his top-flight chance, he insisted the weekend's defeat does not have to spark the break-up of this Bluebirds side.
"Joe's future is in his own hands so whatever he does is up to him," said the 30-year-old.
"He's got to look after himself and he's a young lad who's able to play at the highest level - I'm sure if he gets a chance he'll take it.
"But I'm sure this side can stay together.
"We've had disappointments before and come back determined to do it again so there's no reason why we can't do it again."
