Rangers chief Frank McParland is behind their move for Liverpool midfielder Jordan Rossiter.
Off contract next month, Rangers can sign him for compensation of around £250,000 as it is a cross-border transfer. A move to another English club would have brought in around £8million at a tribunal, says the Daily Mail.
McParland rates him highly and hopes to have an agreement wrapped up soon.
The Rangers chief was academy boss at Liverpool as Rossiter made his way through the system.
