Cardiff City fullback Kevin McNaughton says they must keep Peter Whittingham.
The People says star midfielder Whittingham, 26, was linked with moves to Norwich City, Portsmouth and Leicester City, and full-back McNaughton insists it was vital that he remained in Wales.
He said: "Whitts is probably the only player in the squad that we cant replace.
"I'm quite surprised that more teams in the league above didn't come in for him as he's suited for the Premier League.
"He can make the step up and if you ask any of the lads in the squad who is the most talented player, they will all say Whitts."
