McNamee says Sunderland want to do better in FA Youth Cup

Sunderland academy chief Ged McNamee says they face a tough challenge against Ipswich Town in the FA Youth Cup.

The young Black Cats will head to Portman Road on December 11 to take on the Tractor Boys in a third-round tie.

"Everyone puts a bit of prestige and emphasis on the FA Youth Cup," McNamee told safc.com.

"Over the years we've had some decent runs. Ipswich away will be a difficult game but playing at Portman Road will be a good experience for the lads.

"We're under no illusions - it'll be difficult.

"But we've won there before going back quite a few years. I think Grant Leadbitter scored the goal in a 1-0 win and if we can come away with the same scoreline, that'll do me."
